6th TP Day

Reaching school I was informed that the students would be doing their mid term common test. The H.O.D had to attend a meeting and asked me to get acquainted with the school.

So I went around the school to other blocks and finally ended at the library.

As luck would have it I met the SM Examination and we got into small talk. She disclosed to me that this system of TP teachers coming once a week is still new to them and she is not sure whether this would be effective in the long run. She also mentioned that certain schools avoided taking TP teachers and somehow produced good results.

I argued saying that the avoidance of taking TP teachers could not have been the main reason why they fared better. We cannot rule out the possibility though but I said more detailed study need to be done to verify and confirm this notion. I personally believe and I told her this: that some TP teachers also bring with them modern teaching and learning ideas and strategies and are equally capable of working towards their students obtaining better grades given the oppurtunity and the benefit of the doubt.

I rebutted the assumption that veteran or experienced teachers are better by directing her attention to excellent work done by UBD in providing In-service teachers with the opportunity to explore other schools and draw conclusion from their experience, which I believe would be invaluable and also mentioned the instances where some TP teachers did a marvellous job in motivating students by injecting fresh ideas and techniques.

Finally SM did agree it was not all that bad but suggested that we need to reevaluate before jumping to conclusion. I agreed and left on that note.

Anyway it was a heart to heart talk with no malice intended mutually.
